Social media that has an end.
Slow social media is a social app built to be finished: you share rarely, and what you read arrives in a small batch. Evening Pages works that way. You write a page, and a few real readers’ pages arrive once an evening, at 8 pm your time.
What is slow social media?
Slow social media is a social app built around a few deliberate moments instead of an endless feed. You post rarely, and what you read arrives in a small batch, so there is an end and you can put the phone down.
Why would anyone want a slower feed?
An endless feed has no natural stopping point. There is always one more thing, so deciding when to stop is left entirely to you, usually late at night when you are tired. A slow app moves that decision into the design: the batch is finite, and when it is read, you are done.
Slow does not mean empty. You can still be read, read other people, leave a kind word and follow writers you like. It just happens at a pace you can keep up with.
How does Evening Pages do it?
- One page a night is the habit. You can write up to 3 pages a day, but the app is built around one.
- Delivery, not a feed. Readers get up to 3 pages a day, at 8 pm their local time. A shared page reaches a few readers, not a crowd.
- Nothing to chase. Stamps, comments and follower counts never change what is delivered. Only the writer sees counts, and nobody sees who stamped.
- Small interactions. A stamp, a short comment (500 characters at most, no links), or a follow. No direct messages.
- Real people. Pages are written by people and read by people. There is no AI chat.
Is there a social media app without an infinite feed?
Evening Pages delivers up to 3 pages from real readers once an evening, at 8 pm your time. There is no infinite scroll to refresh all day. There is also a Discover tab for when you choose to browse.
Is there a once-a-day social app?
Yes. On Evening Pages you write one page a night if you like, and your readers’ pages are delivered once, at 8 pm your local time. You can write up to 3 pages a day and share 1 on the free plan.
Does Evening Pages rank pages by likes or followers?
No. Stamps, comments and follower counts never affect which pages are delivered. Writers see how many people read a page, and only the writer sees counts. Nobody sees who stamped a page.
What slow social media is not
It is not a promise that you will use your phone less. An app can be calm and still be an app. If you want to cut your screen time, a timer or a blocker is the right tool, and our guide to what to do instead of doomscrolling has other ideas that do not need an app at all.
It is also not for everyone. If you want a large audience, trends and instant replies, a fast social network will give you that. Evening Pages is for the days you want to be heard by a few and then go to bed.
Is it free?
Yes. Writing, sharing, reading, stamps, comments and follows are free. Evening Plus is optional. See pricing.
